Becky Meets my Lily

My best friend Becky has been there through it all with me. We've been best friends since I can remember. She is always there no matter what. When she told me she was coming to visit and meet Baby Lily I was so excited, happy to have a little help and happy to have her company. We can sit on the couch and have a great time....its one of the things I love about her. We didn't do much while she was here, just spent time at the house and with Lily. It was wonderful....we laughed, cried, went through pictures, watched movies, laughed some more....I love spending time with my girls.

Conners

Brad and I ventured out of the house and traveled to Lake Conner to the Tesch family's RV. Everyone else went camping and we wanted to go and hang out for the day, but not camp....having a newborn in an RV all night does not sound like a good time to me. It was really cold so I bundled Lily up and put her in the cutest little pink sweater with Jordon beanie and Jordon socks.....guess who bought those for her :) It was fun sitting around the fire, passing the baby around which gave me a nice break, and chit chatting. I love going to Conner's. Its so relaxing and fun. We'll be gong there for years to come!

Aunt Laura

My little sister Laura came from Texas to meet her niece for the first time. It was so wonderful to see her and to have her hold our little baby girl. Sometimes when I look at Lily she looks a lot like my sister when she was a baby. Laura was so happy to be here and it was really nice to have her here. She came over to our house to help me out. I took a long shower for hte first time and it was so relaxing. I can't wait for her to come back and visit again. I love my sister so much!

First Photo Shoot

When Lily was a month old we traveled 3 hours away to do Lily's first photo shoot with the amazing Jackie Lund. When I was a rockgirl for KISW I had the privledge of shooting with her and be a model for the Radio Vixens website. I loved her photos so much that I asked her to take my maternity photos. While we were there she said she would love to take her newborn photos. I was so excited to get her photos taken, but I learned something.....taking newborn photos is very difficult. Lily was tired from being in the car for so long, I was still struggling with feeding her so she was hungry and cranky, and her faces looked so funny when the flash went off. Luckily Jackie was so patient and we got these amazing photos. Thank you so much Jackie!

1 Month Old

Lily is 1 month old today! It went by so fast. Here are a few of my favorite pictures.

Breastfeeding is hard.

Breast feeding looks so easy, so natural. Well for me it was the hardest thing I have ever had to learn. Not only is it hard to learn, but it hurt really bad too. Lily wasn't able to latch on properly because her mouth was so tiny. I was also not producing enough milk, so Lily would feed for about 5 minutes on each side at a time. She wanted to "snack" every 2 hours. It was really hard. I felt like I was breastfeeding all the time. After a while of letting her snack, I would have to pump every three hours for 15 minutes on both sides to increase my milk production. SO I was nursing every 2 hours and pumping every three hours. Pretty crazy.

Its funny that when you are pregnant you feel like a cow and when you have a baby, you are being milked like one. Ha Ha.

First Date as a Mommy

Last night we had my parents watch Lily for the first time so that we could go on a date. It was really hard to leave her. It took me about an hour to finally get out the door. As we were driving off I had a big sigh.....I was scared, happy, and excited all at the same time. We couldn't go too far since I wanted to be close just in case so we drove 2 minutes away to Flyers for dinner. I know I know.....not much of a date if its only 2 minutes away. We had a great dinner, great conversation, hand holding, the works.....Brad made me feel really special, one of the many reasons why I fell madly in love with him. After dinner we went back to my parents house to pick up Lily. My parents were smiling ear to ear and having so much fun. It made me feel good that we could leave her and she was going to be fine. I just needed to break the ice.

Doctors Visit

I loved dressing her up so that we could go to the doctors office. Everyone at the office wanted to see her and told me how cute our little girl is. We went to the doctors office to see if our little girl was gaining any weight. When she was born she weighed 7lb. 14oz. and the day after she weighed 6lbs. 13oz. After that she was having a hard time gaining weight. They were unsure if it was due to my milk production and difficulty with breast feeding or if there was something wrong with her. At this point the yucky black poop that babies have was no longer happening, her belly button already fell off.....by the way, both of those things happening were extremely gross. I swear being a mom has made me not care about gross things. I can't tell you how many times I have caught spit up in my hand to prevent it hitting my outfit :) Lily was starting to gain weight and that made the doctor happy, which made me extremely happy. I am really glad that we were starting to give her pumped breast milk in the bottle to help her tummy get full.
