Lily's First Bath at Home

May 10, 2010
They showed me how to give Lily a bath in the hospital, but doing it myself for the very first time with somehting so small was a little harder. Becasue I was scared and wasn't supposed to get her belly button wet, I laid a towel down next to the sink and we did a sponge bath. She loves the water and looks so startled all the time.....I think I was more scared than she was. Her hair poofed straight up after her bath, man she is sooooo cute. I just love her so much.

First Night at Home

May 10, 2010
I knew I wasn't going to get much sleep after I had a baby, but it had to be better than uncomfortable pregnancy sleep right? Wrong.......Lily wanted to look around and figure out where she was and eat, eat, eat. I was so exhausted, Brad was in a complete coma, and Lily was having the time of her life. I can't sleep anyways...I couldn't stop looking at how beautiful she is.

Happy Mother's Day

I celebrated my first mothers day by bringing our baby girl home from the hospital. It was an amazing feeling. Overwhelming with happiness, fear, and every emotion in between. I was so exhausted so I couldn't wait to get home. When we got home I was very emotional because it was the first time we were walking into our home with our baby girl and because I was sooooo tired. My brother in law Brian was mowing the lawn, my mother in law had made lunch, and my sister in law Jenn was cleaning the house. I had no worries, I could just go to bed and relax. When I woke up my parents came over to visit and help out. After my nap I felt so much better and I was ready to take on the challenge of having a newborn.....very scary, but I was so ready. The best Mother's Day Gift ever!

Visitors

When Lily and I were in the hospital we had so many unexpected visitors to come and meet you. Your dad's best friend from high school Dan and Katie drove a few hours to meet you.
Our friends Andy, Audra, Sam, Emaline, and Elliott brought us doughnuts. Sam picked out a bear claw for Brad, a chocolate doughnut for me, and a dough nut hole for Lily. It was so adorable. Grandmom and Poppy came by to visit you a few times to bring us by things that we needed and see your little face. They couldn't get enough of you.
Lexi and Mishal also came by to say hello and teach me how to breast feed since the lactation specialist wasn't working the weekend you were born. How hard could breastfeeding be? Really hard.

Hi....I'm You're Mommy.

I was so exhausted after Lily was born and so was Brad so he went home. I fell fast asleep and when I woke up I didn't feel the baby move. I turned to my left to wake him up and tell him something was wrong, but then I realized where I was. Then I turned to my right and there she was.....staring at me. All I could do was cry. I picked her up and put her on the bed with me. Hi Lily Girl....I'm your mommy......She looked at me and smiled. Here's the face she gave me.
I'm so in love.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl

May 7, 2010
I woke up on the couch, since I can't sleep in the bed at all, at 4am and I felt really awake and really determined that today will be the day that I'll get to meet my baby girl....I was right. I went to wake Brad up. I told him that we were going to have Lily today and that I am going for a walk to get her movin....I couldn't wait any longer. When I came back from my walk I laid down on the couch and took an hour nap. When I woke up my contractions were 3 minutes apart and it was go time. Believe it or not, I was very calm. I wanted to take a shower before going to the hospital. I took my time, blow dried my hair, put make up on.....while I was taking my sweet time Brad had packed the car, started it, called my mother and was pacing like a mad man telling me that we needed to get to the hospital. It was adorable. When we got to the hospital I was 5 cm dilated and 75% effaced. I was officially in labor. Now was the hard part. I thought the hard part would be having the baby, I was wrong. They tried to put in my IV and I was so swollen that they had to try 4 times, then they tried to put in my epidural but were unsuccessful the first 7 times. I hurt so bad. The doctor kept telling me that he has never had such a tough time getting an epidural in. It took him 35 minutes before he finally got it in. After that it was heaven. I was so relaxed, I didn't feel contractions or anything, it was great. The bad part was that when they declared me in labor at 6am, I was no longer aloud to eat anything. I was starving. They gave me crushed ice with some sort of Italian ice syrup on it. I ate three cups still starving. My hunger pains were so intense. It hit 5:30pm and sure enough I started to feel pressure. I wanted this moment to happen for so long now and it was finally here. Now I get to see what I'm made of.....see if I can do this. Brad was incredible. He was such a good coach. Watching my contractions telling me when to push, telling me that I'm doing a great job, telling me how beautiful I look......He made me feel so strong. I felt like I could do anything. I was pushing and she wouldn't come out. I was only 9 cm dilated but 100% effaced so the doctor said that she could push my cervix to create more room. She couldn't move it so they said they wanted to do a c-section. Everyone was moving around the room really fast and I got really scared. Brad looked at me and told me that I could do it on the next push and that I needed to calm down. I pushed again and her head came out. I pushed for a little under an hour and there she was. Words can't describe how I felt when my doctor put her on my chest. She was so beautiful, perfect in every way.....Oh my God......I'm a Mom......we made her. I've never felt so many emotions at one time. I've never been so in love with anything my entire life. I am so happy.

Welcome to the world baby girl.

Getting Closer

May 5, 2010
37 weeks, 3 days
I'm now off meds that stop contractions so now when I go into labor they won't stop me, thank God! I am measuring at 39 weeks so we have a big girl coming soon. I am 3 cm almost 4cm dialated , and now we are playing the waiting game. I am still pretty swollen so I am limited to being up and about. I am excited that we are getting closer.

Watermelon

May 3, 2010

What to expect when expecting says our baby is the size of a watermelon at 6 pounds 5 ounces but the doctor says our baby was this big a week ago......I'm terrified and I never want to eat watermelon again.
